GAUTENG – The Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) concluded the last week of August 2025 with a resolute commitment to combatting gang-related crimes and ensuring that those who contribute to such activities are held accountable.
Beginning on Sunday, 24 August 2025, the AGU arrested a 23-year-old male in Riverlea for possession of an unlicensed firearm, which was later identified as having been reported stolen in Sasolburg in 2023. This initial operation set the tone for a week of intensive law enforcement efforts.
On Tuesday, 26 August 2025, during patrols in Eldorado Park Extension 3, the dedicated AGU team arrested a male suspect found with nine (9) mandrax tablets and 19 knotted plastics of nyaope. In a separate incident on the same day, a 28-year-old male was arrested along September Street in Klipspruit for possession of 13 mandrax tablets and six (6) crystal meth.
The AGU’s vigilance continued throughout the week, resulting in another significant arrest on Saturday, 30 August 2025, when a 44-year-old male was arrested along High Street in Moffatview with a ziplock bag containing crystal meth. Additional operations in Eldorado Park resulted in the arrest of another suspect found in possession of six (6) substances suspected to be crystal meth along Turf Avenue.
All individuals arrested have been brought before the relevant courts. The AGU is committed to following up on all tips and conducting further disruptive operations.
