Police members attached to Public Order Policing deployed in Bishop Lavis area to combat gang related shooting arrested a suspect for the illegal possession of a firearm during stop and search operations early Wednesday morning.
The members were busy with a stop and search operation in Bonteheuwel when they searched two males who were walking in the road and when they saw the police vehicles they started to run. One suspect was found with a .38 Special revolver and the other suspect was found with five rounds of ammunition in their possession. They face charges for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
In an unrelated matter, members of the Anti-Gang Unit searched two premises in Eureka Estate, Ravensmead, where they found a .38 Special revolver without a serial number with four rounds of ammunition and a 9mm pistol without a serial number with ten rounds of ammunition at the premises respectively. They arrested two adult males for the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Bishop Lavis and Goodwood Magistrates’ Court once they have been charged.
