Suspect linked to business robberies in Mopani district arrested and stolen items recovered

POLOKWANE – Police in Limpopo, through a well-coordinated operation conducted by the Mopani Tracking Team and Muyexe Detectives, have arrested a 30-year-old male suspect believed to be linked to a series of business robberies committed in various parts of the Mopani District.

The operational success was achieved on Tuesday, 14 October 2025, at around 11:00, when members of the Mopani Tracking Team were activated by Giyani Detectives to trace a wanted suspect involved in a business robbery committed in July 2025.

The team swiftly responded and arrested the suspect at his residence in Siyandhani Village. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had sold some of the stolen items in Mapuve and Nkuri villages.

The members proceeded to Mapuve Village, where they managed to recover a refrigerator positively linked to a Muyexe business robbery committed in March 2025. The item was found at the suspect’s girlfriend’s residence.

The team further proceeded to Nkuri Village, where a search was conducted at a local tavern where additional stolen items were allegedly sold.Police recovered several stolen items linked to the Giyani business robbery in July 2025, including:One (1) generator, two (2) electrical cords and one (1) music sound system.

The suspect was subsequently detained and charged with multiple counts of business robbery committed across the Mopani District.

Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the Mopani Tracking Team and the Giyani Detectives for their swift and coordinated response that led to the arrest and recovery of stolen properties

The suspect will appear before the Giyani Magistrate’s Court soon. Investigations are continuing.
