In a joint operation involving SAPS Counter Intelligence Head Office, SAPS Gauteng Tactical Response Team (TRT), SAPS Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit, Gauteng Traffic Police Airwing, and CAP Specialised Operations, intelligence was received regarding suspects allegedly involved in the selling of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Acting on this information, the team conducted an operation in the Bramley area, Johannesburg, where they were on the lookout for a Toyota Starlet linked to the suspects. The vehicle was spotted, and the operational plan was swiftly executed. Three suspects were contained and arrested.
During the search, officers recovered one unlicensed firearm and ammunition, as well as a large quantity of narcotics (dagga).
Following further intelligence, the team proceeded to a security estate in Fourways, Johannesburg, where a residential premise was raided. During the raid, an unlicensed DM-4 rifle and additional ammunition were recovered.
