Members of #OperationShanela2 are hard at work to combat gang violence and the distribution of drugs in the Western Cape.
The members who are deployed in the Kraaifontein policing precinct were conducting stop and search operations, when they searched a male who acted suspicious when he saw the police. He tried to evade the police but was apprehended. The members found a 9mm pistol with 38 rounds of ammunition in his possession. The suspect faces charges for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and will appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ court, once he has been charged.
In an unrelated intervention, members of Operation Shanela II deployed in Mitchell’s Plain, searched a premises in Freedom Park and seized 169 parcels and one 50 kilogram bag containing dagga. No arrests were made and investigations in to the discovery is ongoing.
