Two Suspects Apprehended for Copper and Water Meter Theft in Phoenix During Early Hours of Wednesday Morning*
Two suspects, wanted for copper pipe and water meter theft, were apprehended by community members in two separate areas of Phoenix, during the early hours of Wednesday morning, 20 August 2025.
KZNVIP Response Officers attended both scenes, where it is believed the suspects had attempted to steal copper pipes and water meters from nearby properties before trying to flee.
Community members gave chase and managed to apprehend the suspects. Unfortunately, both suspects were then subjected to mob justice, leaving them seriously injured.
Medical treatment was required on scene, and government ambulances were dispatched to attend to the suspects.
SAPS Phoenix were notified and attended to the matter. 1 incident occurred in Caneside and the second incident in Palmview. Residents are calling on action from law enforcement to tackle the scrapyards who are providing tools to commit these crimes as well as rewarding them for the stolen items.
