The continued efforts by SAPS members to clamp down on the possession and dealing of drugs have once again proven effective, following a successful drug bust in Maletswai.
On Monday, 7 July 2025 at approximately 14:00, members of the Aliwal North K9 Unit conducted an intelligence-driven operation at a residence in Angelier Street, Hilton. During the targeted search, police discovered 18 zip-lock sachets containing crystal methamphetamine concealed under a mattress, and 30 full mandrax tablets hidden in a suitcase in the bedroom.
A 34-year-old female suspect was arrested on the scene and is expected to appear in the Maletswai Magistrate’s Court today on charges related to drug possession and dealing.
The Acting District Commissioner, Colonel Zingiza Manqoyi, praised the team for their swift and coordinated response, stating: “The excellent teamwork and prompt action by our members ensured that these dangerous substances were removed before they could find their way into our communities. Their dedication is commendable and forms part of our ongoing commitment to safeguarding our youth and residents from the scourge of drugs.”
SAPS reaffirms its stance that the fight against drugs will remain a top priority and urges community members to continue working hand-in-hand with law enforcement by reporting suspicious activity.
